***Applications are only reviewed in the Spring

Application Period:

Opens: Sunday, November 24, 2024

Closes: Sunday, January 5, 2025

Start Your Application (currently closed): Intent to Register Application.

Overview

Once the Intent to Register Application closes, submissions will be reviewed by our Student Organization Review Committee from mid to late January, with decisions aimed to be made by January 31. Groups that are provisionally approved will then be assigned a Student Organization Consultant (SOC) in early February to led them through the onboarding process throughout the remainder of the spring semester. Once a group is provisionally approved, they will be notified via email and the YCDO will create a Yale Connect portal for the group to utilize throughout their onboarding semester.

Note: Organizations established for selling or renting items or paying students cannot be registered as a student organization. They must instead operate as  Associated Student Agencies.

Your organization should register with the Yale College Dean’s Office if your undergraduate group

  • Conducts meetings periodically.
  • Sponsors activities on the campus of Yale University.
  • Provides a service for or by Yale undergraduates.
  • Operates within a residential college that sponsors extracurricular events open to the Yale community.
  • Raises funds within the University for charitable purposes.

Not sure if you should register? Contact student.organizations@yale.edu.

Certain organizations may not be eligible for registration as student organizations or may require additional approval. The list below provides examples of some but not all such organizations and the necessary steps to take to complete registration.

  • All religious organizations must have the approval of Yale’s Chaplain’s Office before their registration can be approved by the Yale College Dean’s Office.
  • Organizations that are established for the purpose of selling or renting items or paying students cannot be registered student organizations. Such organizations may be able to operate as Associated Student Agencies and should consult with the business manager of the Associated Student Agencies.
