Student Productions

Yale College performance events include undergraduate dramatic, musical, dance, and operatic productions, as well as most other undergraduate presentations and events performed before an audience.

If you wish to produce a performance event on campus, please reach out to Yale College Undergraduate Production.

Undergraduate Production Regulations

In addition to working with Undergraduate Production, please note that performance events produced by undergraduates on the Yale campus must abide by the Undergraduate Production Regulations. Regulations include:

  • All University spaces fall under the jurisdiction of:
  1. the Yale Fire Code Compliance Office,
  2. Yale Environmental Health and Safety, and
  3. the department that owns or manages the space (e.g., residential college office, Dwight Hall, Cultural Center, Chaplain’s Office, etc.)

Individual venues may also be covered by specific safety polices. You should work with Undergraduate Production to make sure you are abiding by the safety policies of all relevant stakeholders.

  • The use of drugs or alcohol in any theater by cast, crew, or audience is strictly forbidden and may be grounds for individual expulsion from the theater and/or immediate termination of the production’s use of the theater.
  • No use of stage weapons or staged combat of any kind is allowed, in rehearsal or performance, without the express written permission of the Office of Undergraduate Production. Requests for the use of stage weapons and/or staged combat must be made to the Undergraduate Production office at least six weeks prior to the first performance date. Additional regulations may be found in the Prop Weapon and Staged Combat Policy.

Production elements not conforming to the Undergraduate Production Regulations may be cut from a production. Failure to observe these regulations may be grounds for stopping an event. Serious or repeated violations of these regulations will be referred to the Yale College Dean’s Office for possible disciplinary action.
